Us
There are some of us that may not feel quite at home. There are some of us who may not feel like we fit in. We may feel like our voices get drown out by all of the loudmouths out there while we shrink slowly back into shadows for fear of retribution if we threaten the masses with our viewpoint.
Maybe there is a reason for people like us. So we may not find approval in the masses, we may not find ourselves reaping the benefits of popularity. We may never gain recognition for anything we’ve done, but we are extraordinary people who live ordinary lives. Just a few kinds acts, just a few moments to listen to another can benefit this world in ways we can’t imagine. The way we teach the next generation, demonstrating extraordinary love, can save our futures. Is your coworker having problems in his/her personal life? Show extraordinary listening skills to them, empathize and after you have heard them, deeply understood them, offer them sound advice if asked for it. Pick up a peice of garbage that you didn’t drop and put it in the garbage, the next guy that cuts you off, don’t give him the bird but show extraordinary restraint by smiling and waving to him, letting him know that you don’t want to escalate an already tense situation.
I’m caring less and less for the loudmouths, who are trying to get me to believe how extraordinary they are when they are simply ordinary, egotisical, and hollow. The people who puff out their chests, or augment their breasts trying to make me believe they have something I really want. I don’t want it. I just want to be happy. No amount of money, flesh or food can make me happy.
So, that is probably the reason for us. To balance out the bullshit with something real. Something that really does matter. Extraordinary people living ordinary lives.
